Design & Height Requirements

The maximum height for privacy fences installed in Madison Heights is 6 feet tall and the maximum height for non-privacy fences is 4 feet tall. A non-privacy fence is something like chain link, aluminum fences, picket fences, etc.

Aside from the height restrictions, you can pretty much install any common type of fence such as: vinyl fencing, wood fencing, chain link fence, and aluminum fences.

The finished side (or good side) of all fences in Madison Heights must face the adjacent neighbor’s property where the fence is being installed. This means that if you are installing a traditional wood privacy fence, the post and rails must be facing the inside of your backyard.

Location Requirements

In Madison Heights you can enclose your entire back yard but must end your fence at the rear corners of the house and cannot extend the fence on the side of the home. The exception to this rule is if you have a side door giving access to your house or garage, then you may be able to install your fence beyond the rear corners to enclose that side entrance door.
